Theatre Circle

In the Fall of 1979 Theatre Circle’s partners conceived of and opened Broadway’s first ever exclusive theater store. The industry was new and evolving thus there were few items available to stock a store of this kind. Through the success of this venue and the game changing production of “A Chorus Line." This show's juggernaut success spurred a desire in show producers to create more items to celebrate their shows.

Before the original store opened, souvenir programs and vinyl records had been the only items for sale in Broadway theaters. The idea was then born to open a store that could celebrate great shows like: “A Chorus Line”, “Barnum”, “Cats”, “Evita”, “Sweeney Todd” etc.

The store opened to great acclaim and had lines out the door. Its success helped make Broadway merchandise more accessible. Throughout the years, producers were driven to create more and more interesting items for the public to buy and enjoy.

Fast forward 44 years, and Broadway merch is now wildly popular among theatre goers.

Theatre Circle was built in 1993 by these same inventive partners. Located in the heart of the Theater District it is now one of Broadway's most complete and comprehensive places to shop.
